RaiseRED is the largest student-run organization at the University of Louisville. In the past five years, RaiseRED has been responsible for over 3 million dollars raised for the University of Louisville Department of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology. The money raised funds research and contributes towards patient needs. This year-long fundraising effort culminates in an 18-hour dance marathon every February to honor the children we fight for.
This year, we had 76 of our brothers participate in the dance marathon and fundraising. Together, we are happy to announce that we raised $60,024 for RaiseRED this year. This feat would not be at all possible without the help of every single brother pushing and pursuing their own goals they had set for themselves.
Every individual has their won reason for dancing. Fellow senior, Greg Frist, writes about his reasons for dancing: “raiseRED is the best and most influential organization on this campus and in this city. [RaiseRED] has the ability to be the most impactful 18 hours of your life to this day, and even as you grow older…You are fighting and proving to these kids that they deserve better and will have better. You are giving them hope. You are fighting to give them their childhood back.”
RaiseRED will always be an integral part of SigEp’s KY Beta chapter. For as long as there are children suffering from such a horrible disease, we will continually fight for a better tomorrow.
